For a writer I definitely have a lot of issues sticking to a writing schedule. Something about publishing it and making sure it's "perfect" always gets in the way of me actually hitting publish. Honestly the issue I have with finishing books in general. But I digress.

Lately I've been really feeling that void left in my life by not having a bookstore in town. It's not just the bookstore, it's the whole feeling of being surrounded by books, by that feeling of safety and home that comes from being around stories and people who write them. My writing group has kind of dissolved in the past year, and I didn't realize how much of a tentpole of my life it was until recently. It's not just the meeting up and accountability and people telling you how to make things better. It's also just surrounding yourself with people who do the same things you do. Who validate your choices and make you feel less alone in what can be the incredibly lonely work of writing stories. It's hard to know how much you depend on the fellowship of other book people until it's gone.

So I'm making my own bookstore. Brick and mortar isn't financially feasible at the moment so I'm taking it in stages. At first I thought I would just do popups at farmer's markets, but then I stumbled across the world's CUTEST mini bookstore trailer and impulsively bought it. It was too cute not to.

So now I'm off and my grand adventure of painting and fixing up the trailer, getting inventory, decorating, and in general just being super excited about selling books. Every merchant I've talked to about doing a collab has been excited. Every person I've told in town has been super excited about me being added to the farmer's market. I just feel a lot of positive feedback from everyone and it's making me really happy.

Everything about this feels right.
